Sporting Life In Jamaica

Sailing
Top sailing teams from around the world come to Jamaica to compete in the Montego Bay Pineapple Cup Yacht Races held each year in February, March and April. For yacht charters contact Montego Bay Yacht Club (Ph: 952-3028); Royal Jamaica Yacht Club (Ph: 924-8685) or visit Morgan's Harbour Marina (Ph: 924-8464).
River Rafting
A unique experience, touring the famous rivers of Jamaica. Trips arranged by calling: Martha Brae's Rafters (Ph: 952-0889) and Mountain Valley (Ph: 952-0527).
Scuba Diving & Snorkeling
Most of the island hotels provide full service dive facilities for beginners and accomplished divers. We especially liked Poseidon Nemrod Divers (Ph: 952-3624) and Seal World (Ph: 954-2450) both in Montego Bay. In Ocho Rios try Sun Divers (Ph: 973-2006) or Fantasea Divers (Ph: 975-4504). At Negril contact Negril Scuba Centre (Ph: 957-4425) and Aqua Action (Ph: 993-3318) in Port Antonio.
Golf
Jamaica has developed some of the most beautiful courses in the Caribbean, suited to all levels of play. In Montego Bay the Wyndham Rose Hall (Ph: 953-2650) has 18-holes; Ironshore Golf and Country Club is a par 72 (Ph: 953-2800) and Tryall, a par 71 (Ph: 956-5660). Ocho Rios has a 18-hole, par 71, at Sandals Golf Club (Ph: 974-2528) and the Constant Spring Golf Club (Ph: 924-1610) is a par 70 course.
Tennis
Very popular on the island, if your hotel doesn't have a court they will have arrangements for playing nearby. Courts in Montego Bay are at Round Hill, 5 courts (Ph: 952-5150); Tryall, 9 courts and resident pro (Ph: 952-5110); Wyndham Rose Hall Beach, 6 courts (Ph: 953-2650), Sans Souci, 4 courts (Ph: 974-2353).
Horseback Riding
There are several stables on the island and we recommend a ride through the countryside or along the beach. In Montego Bay there are Rocky Point Stables (Ph: 953-2286) or White Witch Stables (Ph: 953-2746). In Ochos Rios Prospect Estates (Ph: 974-2058) and in Port Antonio call Bonnie View (Ph: 993-2752).
Deep-Sea Fishing
Jamaica is famous for its Blue Marlin Tournaments in September and October and the freshwater river fishing is also exemplary. Arrangements are made through the resort hotels.
